So
often today, many women hear negative messages about labor and birth.
You have probably heard some negative birth stories and might wonder
how you can have a more positive attitude and belief system about
this beautiful and natural event. It is my hope that you find your
birth experience to be empowering and enriching. These affirmation
cards are designed for you to pick and choose the messages you want
to focus on. Place them where you will see them daily - on your
mirror, by your bed, in your book, on the refrigerator. Use them
as reminders of your capability to birth your baby and to be a good
parent. We have also enclosed some blank cards for you to create
your own affirmations.

"About 5 or 6 weeks before my due date, I started getting really
scared about giving birth. I cried and felt like I wasn't strong
enough to do it, and then Bonnie's shower gift came...your cards!
I ate them up, and they helped me SO MUCH. I kept them by my bedside
and read them before turning out the light."
"The one that really helped me when I was scared before labor,
and in pain during labor was, "I know I will birth my baby." So
simple, but that fact sometimes escaped me, and it helped to remind
myself of it. I also really liked the one about accepting the healthy
pain of labor. I really had to relax during labor and know that
this was GOOD pain and helpful pain, which goes contrary to how
we view pain in most other circumstances."
"Anyway, I really loved my birth (even though it was long and
HARD!!!!!!) and can't wait to do it again in a few years."

"Thank you for the Affirmation Cards. I'm not sure I would have
had the courage to have a homebirth if it weren't for the mental
preparation the cards gave me. At one point in labor, my sister-in-law
noticed my contractions had slowed down and she started reading
the Affirmations to me. I immediatly started having contractions!
The cards helped so much. Thank you again!"
